Thought hummingbird feeders were a gimmick until I saw 8 of them in one afternoon

I live just outside Portland and always figured those red plastic feeders were more for decoration than anything else. My daughter bought me one for Father's Day two years ago and I left it hanging empty for months. Then last August I got curious and mixed up some sugar water. First day nothing. Second day one showed up. By the end of that week I had to refill it every morning. They fight over it now. I sit on my porch with coffee and watch them buzz around. Has anyone else had a specific feeder style or color that worked better than others? I'm thinking about getting a second one but don't want to waste money on the wrong kind.

You know it's funny how once you start paying attention to one thing, you see it everywhere. Same thing happened to me with cardinals after I put out a basic tray feeder last winter, didn't notice them for years. I'd just grab a simple glass tube feeder with a red base, the clear ones let you see when it's getting low and the hummingbirds don't seem to care about fancy shapes.
