My suet feeder was moldy for months and I never noticed

I pulled down my suet feeder yesterday to refill it and found this greenish fuzz growing in the crevice where the cake sits. It must have been there since that rainy week we had in April. Has anyone else had this happen and switched to a different feeder style?

Man I pulled apart a wall in a fixer-upper last summer and found green mold growing behind the baseboards. Threw on a mask and goggles and sprayed it down with concrobium before it spread to the studs. Took me three days to dry everything out with a dehumidifier running nonstop. That stuff ain't flavor, it'll mess up your lungs if you breathe it in long enough. Trust me, better safe than sorry with that kind of growth.
