Heard a neighbor say they wash their feeders with bleach, and it freaked me out

I was chatting over the fence and they mentioned using a full cup of bleach in a bucket to clean their tube feeder. That's way too strong and can leave residue that hurts the birds, even after rinsing. What's a safe cleaner you all use instead?

A full cup of bleach sounds like a plan to disinfect a crime scene, not a bird feeder. That harsh stuff can stick around and really do a number on the birds. A little dish soap and hot water does the trick just fine.
