Getting turned around led me to a better campsite, no joke

I was on the Pacific Crest Trail last summer and totally missed a turn, lol. Ended up in this tiny meadow with a perfect view of the mountains. Most hikers would freak out, but I think getting a bit lost makes the trip more fun. Like that time in Colorado where a wrong turn showed me a hidden waterfall nobody talks about. Sure, it's not smart, but the surprise spots are the best part. Now I kinda look for routes that might mix me up a little, lmao.

My sense of direction is so bad it's basically a superpower for finding cool spots. I've accidentally found more good campsites than I ever have on purpose. At this point I just trust my wrong turns as a weird sort of strategy.

Totally, @ryan_moore73, your internal compass points to adventure, not north.

Back in Yosemite, I took a wrong turn and found a quiet lake most maps don't show. It's a common thing, where the best finds come from unexpected changes in plans. Sometimes the route you didn't mean to take is the one you needed.
