Vent: The SaaS sales guy who made me rethink my whole CRM setup

I was at a conference in Austin last month and this dude from a smaller vendor sat down next to me during a breakout session. He asked what I used and I said Salesforce like it was obvious. He just shrugged and said 'does it actually save you time or just track time?' That one hit me. I spent the next hour talking to him about how his tool did things automatically instead of me clicking through 5 tabs. Now I'm a month into a trial and I already switched my whole pipeline. Has anyone else dumped a big name for a smaller player based on a random convo?

Oh man I gotta respectfully disagree here. Those big name CRMs are popular for a reason - they have way more integrations and support when things break. I've seen too many people jump to some random vendor after a 10 minute chat and regret it when they need something basic that the big guys already have figured out.

Had a buddy who went with some small startup CRM because it looked clean and the guy on the demo was super nice. Three months later they couldn't get basic email sync working and the support team took days to reply. Ended up having to migrate all their data back to Salesforce which cost them more than if they'd just started there.
