Hit 50 client referrals in a year without asking once

I run a small cleaning service for office buildings, and I just counted up my referrals for this year. 50 people sent new clients my way without me ever asking them to. I think it's because I started sending a monthly email with just tips on keeping their break rooms clean, not pushing my services. Has anyone else seen a big bump from just being helpful instead of pitching?

50 people sent new clients my way without me ever asking them to." I mean, that's impressive for sure, but you kind of did ask them to. You just did it in a sneaky way. That monthly email with cleaning tips is still a form of marketing, even if you're not directly saying "hire me." You're keeping your name in front of them, reminding them you exist, and positioning yourself as the expert. So you didn't literally say the words "please send referrals," but you set up the whole system so they would naturally think of you. It's a smart move, don't get me wrong. Just don't fool yourself into thinking you got 50 referrals with zero effort. You put in the work to build that trust, and it paid off.

Fair point. But let's be real, that's just smart business.
