Client said my load times were 'unacceptable' - fixed a year of bad decisions in 2 days
A small SaaS company I was consulting for told me their app felt slow compared to ours. I ran GTmetrix and found a render-blocking script from a 2019 analytics tool I forgot to remove. Deleted it, added lazy loading to images they uploaded, and page speed jumped from 4.2 seconds to 1.8. Anyone else find old legacy code dragging down your clients' sites?

Wait seriously, you found something from 2019 still running? Thats wild. I had a similar thing happen with a client where they had a chat widget script from like 2018 that was loading before anything else on the page. Took me a full afternoon just to track down what it was doing since it was minified and buried in their theme files.

The craziest part is how one ancient script can tank everything. I had a client with a pre-2016 jQuery plugin that was blocking the entire page load, and removing it cut their time by 2.5 seconds alone. Legacy code really is like a death trap for modern performance.
