Nearly lost a $22k contract because I skipped the follow-up call for 9 days
We had a handshake deal with a logistics client in Columbus and I figured the signed proposal would just show up on its own. Nine days went by with no paper, no email, nothing. Turns out their ops guy got pulled onto a warehouse move and our deal slid to the bottom of his inbox. I called him on a Monday morning and just asked what was slowing things down, and he told me straight up he needed one number reworked on the pricing sheet. Sent a revised quote that same afternoon and had the signature by Wednesday. Now I set a reminder for day 3 and day 7 on every open deal, and our close rate on proposals jumped from about 30 percent to 55 percent in one quarter. What's your cutoff before you pick up the phone on a deal that's gone quiet?
