Wire chafing used to be a suggestion to me, not anymore

I used to blow off chafing checks if the bundle looked fine from the outside. Then last month we pulled a harness off a Gulfstream and found a wire worn down to the copper in a spot that looked totally clean from the top. The guy who caught it has been doing this for 20 years and showed me how it flexes during flight, that was the convincing part. Now I check every tight radius bend with a borescope, even on scheduled stuff. Has anyone else had a hidden chafe sneak up on them like that?
