Question about the real cost of a single wire fault

I was reading an old FAA report from a 2018 incident in Anchorage and it said a single pinched wire in a nav system caused over 300 hours of downtime and a $47,000 repair bill (mostly labor for tracing and system checks). That's just one bad wire in one plane. Has anyone else seen a tiny fault blow up into a massive, expensive job like that?

Oh man, that "300 hours of downtime" line is WILD. I saw a tiny chafed wire in a comms bundle once. They had to pull the whole headliner. The bill was INSANE.

Used to think chasing every little wire rub was overkill. Seeing a tiny fault cause that much damage changes your whole view on maintenance. Now I get why they log every single inspection so carefully.
