My lead at the MRO in Wichita called my wiring harness routing 'a bird's nest'

He pointed out that my method for running the bundle behind the instrument panel on a King Air was causing stress on the connectors. I started using a 3 inch zip tie every 8 inches for support instead of just at the ends. Has anyone found a better spacing for that kind of install?

That zip tie spacing sounds about right for keeping things from sagging. We had a similar issue on some older airframes where the bundle would pull over time. Ended up using those adhesive-backed tie mount bases every 6 to 10 inches, depending on the cable weight. Just make sure the bundle has a little slack at each support point so it's not pulled tight.

Our crew once used zip ties every 8 inches on a long conduit run over a garage door.
