Spent 6 hours chasing a phantom misfire on a 2014 Ford Focus last Thursday

Pulled the plugs, checked coils, even swapped the intake manifold gasket and it was still running rough. Turns out the wiring harness had rubbed through right against the engine mount bracket, took me four extra hours to spot it. Anyone else run into hidden wiring damage that should have been obvious way sooner?

Whoa, that 2014 had the electronic throttle body too though, right?

...and the thing is, that throttle body is a known headache on those 2.0L engines but you never think to check a ground wire. Did you have to pull the airbox and battery tray to get a good look at the harness or was it visible once you knew where it was? I'm asking because I helped a buddy with a 2015 and we found the rub point was hidden under a plastic cover on the passenger side mount that looked like it was glued on from the factory.
