Pro tip: write down the axle nut torque spec before you hand the car back, I learned that the hard way Tuesday
Had a 2016 Civic in for front wheel bearings on Tuesday and I was so backed up I forgot to torque the axle nut, just hit it with the impact and called it good. Two hours later the customer comes back with a grinding noise and a wheel that was about to walk off the car on I-95. I had to eat the tow bill and redo the whole job for free, cost me about $180 and my whole afternoon. My lead tech just shook his head and said "you write it on the ticket next time, no exceptions." What do you all use to keep track of torque specs so this stops happening, phone notes or just a grease pencil on the windshield?
