TIL something from a customer at my shop in Boise

A guy brought in his '78 Ford pickup with a dented fender and said, 'Just fix it like you would your own truck.' That one sentence changed how I talk to every client now. How do you all handle setting expectations on a repair?

That's a solid way to put it. It cuts through the usual back and forth about price versus quality. I'd just be clear about what that standard actually means in dollars and hours.

Heard a mechanic say the same thing once. It really does make you think about your own work.

That Boise guy's truck is just a fender, not a heart transplant.
