The 2020 Tacoma tailgate latch took me 3 hours longer than it should have
Had a customer bring in a 2020 Tacoma with the tailgate stuck closed. I assumed it was the usual corroded cable, but no, it was the striker plate bushing that had worn down just enough to bind everything. Took me from 2 PM to almost 6 PM to figure out, and I only caught it by pulling up the TSB on my phone. Has anyone else wasted a full afternoon on that same weird bushing?

Three hours exactly for me too, back in April. I had the tailgate half apart before I even looked at the TSB, and the bushing was the last thing I checked. I get why you'd blame the cable first, but that plastic piece is a real piece of work.
