My old boss told me to never trust a paint code from a 90s GM truck
He said the factory records were a mess and to always spray a test card first. I finally learned why when a '99 Sierra came in and the code gave us a shade three steps off. Anyone else run into this with older vehicles?

Check the trim level too... saw a '96 C1500 where the base model code was way different from the same year Sierra with the two tone package. The factory just grabbed whatever was nearby sometimes.

Wait, you're saying they just used random parts? I always thought those codes were super strict, but that makes way more sense.
