Dropped in on a shop in Nashville that does all their rust repair with copper

I was visiting family and stopped by a place called Music City Auto Body. The owner was pulling rusted quarter panels and brazing in copper sheets instead of welding steel patch panels. Said it flows way better on thin metal and never warps. Has anyone else seen this done or is it just a southern thing?

Oh yeah that's a thing. My uncle's been doing copper patches on his old Ford truck for years says it never cracks like steel does.

Swear by copper patches myself now. Tried steel on my old Chevy once. Cracked within six months. Copper just flexes with the metal. Doesn't rust out the same way either. Been three years on my cab corner patch. Still holding solid.
