My old film astrophotography binder vs. my phone's photo library

I used to keep every 35mm slide in a big three-ring binder with notes in pencil about the date, weather, and exposure time... found it in the garage last weekend and flipped through it for an hour. Now I just shoot with a phone adapter on my dob and let Google Photos sort it all, but those smudged slides feel more like mine somehow. Anyone else keep their real film shots around after going digital?

and that's the thing about those binders, they're not just pictures, they're proof you were actually there. Every smudge and scratch is part of the memory, like the time I dropped a slide in the dirt and it still came out great. My phone has thousands of shots and I can't even remember half of them, they just blur together. But I can tell you the exact night I took that fuzzy shot of Orion from my backyard because I wrote "cold, wind, bad seeing" in the margin. Digital is easy but it's also forgettable, nothing makes you slow down like knowing you only got 36 chances. I still keep my slides in a shoebox and I bet I always will.
