Can we talk about how a local Facebook group totally failed me when my truck's AC died last week?
I mean, I posted in the 'Ask Our Town' group with the exact model year and the weird clicking noise it was making. Got like 15 replies, but half were just 'take it to a shop' and the other half were arguing about which shop to use. One guy said he had the same thing happen on his '07 F-150 and it was just a relay, so I spent $40 on a new one and an hour swapping it out. Didn't fix a thing. Turned out it was the whole compressor clutch, which a real mechanic found in about ten minutes. I just feel like sometimes the local advice is people guessing based on one time something kinda similar happened to them, you know? Has anyone else had a 'simple fix' from a local forum turn into a way bigger deal?

Yeah and it's worse when the wrong guess costs you time. My buddy followed a forum tip to whack his starter with a hammer, ended up needing a whole new one anyway lol.

That hammer trick is such a gamble! @price.jake, did your buddy at least check the battery cables first? Sometimes it's just a bad connection, not the starter itself.
