Appreciation post: a bartender in Savannah told me there are over 100 historic squares and I had to check
I was sitting at a bar on Congress Street in Savannah a few months back and the guy pouring drinks mentioned the city has 22 of its original squares still standing out of way more that used to exist. I always figured the famous ones were it, like maybe 8 or 10 total, so that number caught me off guard. Went home and looked it up and sure enough, they started with 24 in the 1700s plan and some got paved over or built on over the years. It got me wondering how many locals even know the count, or if that is just something tourists hear at bars. Anyone here from Savannah who can say which square is the most underrated one to just sit in?
