Vent: My buddy's 5-minute rule for cleaning dishes changed how I see half my chores

Was over at my friend Dave's place last weekend and he mentioned he just sets a timer for 5 minutes whenever he sees a mess. He said if it takes less than that, do it right then. I always thought I had to block out an hour for cleaning but trying his way on just the kitchen sink dishes and counters took maybe 4 minutes. Now I'm wondering how many other things I've been putting off that could be done faster. Has anyone else tried breaking up chores into tiny time blocks like that?

Tbh it works for tons of stuff. I started doing it with laundry - just folding one load while I'm watching tv instead of letting it pile up for a whole day. That 5 minute trick kinda rewires your brain to stop seeing chores as these big scary tasks.

Same here. Now I grab dishes during commercial breaks so they never stack up.
