Asked for plumbing advice here, now I have a bigger leak.
The responses were all over the place, and I picked the wrong one. Really makes me doubt asking for help online.

My cousin once followed a forum tip for car repair and ended up needing a tow truck. People online mean well, but they often guess based on their own quick fixes without seeing your actual problem. You get a bunch of conflicting ideas and pick the one that sounds easiest, which can backfire big time with stuff like leaks. I don't blame you for doubting online help, it's basically a lottery with your pipes. Always cross reference with a trusted source or just call a pro before it gets worse. Free advice is cheap for a reason, and your floor pays the price.

My brother tried a YouTube fix for his dishwasher leak last year and ended up flooding the kitchen. He spent three hours watching a guy in a garage say it was "definitely the inlet valve" when it was just a loose drain hose. The confidence of some random person with a camera is honestly the most dangerous part. You trust the guy who sounds sure, not the one who says "maybe check this, I'm not a plumber." Now he has a permanent water stain on his ceiling as a trophy.

Sandra's right about free advice being cheap, I've made that messy DIY choice too.
