Had to pick between two digs this summer, chose the wrong one maybe
I had a choice between volunteering at a Bronze Age site near Salisbury or a Roman villa dig in York, and I picked Salisbury because the photos looked better. Three days in, all we found was a pile of pot sherds and a single brooch pin, while the York crew posted a mosaic floor on day two. The brooch was still cool, but my back hurts from kneeling in wet chalk for two weeks. Anyone else ever picked a dig for the scenery and regretted it when the finds were boring?
