That one guy in Austin who showed me why he never uses a pole pruner for live oak deadwood

I was trimming a big live oak off South Congress last spring when an old timer named Rick walks up and points at my pole pruner. He said "you're gonna strip that bark and invite oak wilt straight to the doorstep" and spent 10 minutes showing me how he uses a handsaw and a throw line instead. Anyone else learn a hard trade lesson from a random guy on a job site?
