Vent: I froze my banana peels for 2 weeks and my bin went weird

So I read somewhere that freezing scraps first helps them break down faster, and I figured why not, I have a tiny freezer anyway. I filled a gallon bag with banana peels, coffee grounds, and some sad spinach for about 2 weeks, then dumped the whole frozen brick into my countertop bin. Big mistake, that thing turned into a slushy mess that took 4 days to thaw and my bin smelled like a wet sock the whole time. The worms (I run a little vermicompost setup under my sink in a 10 gallon tote) ignored it completely until it dried out. Once it finally warmed up and drained, they went through it faster than any fresh scraps I've ever given them, maybe 5 days total. Lesson learned: thaw and drain the stuff first, don't just chuck a frozen block in there. Anyone else freeze scraps, and do you let them sit out first or just deal with the mess?
