Read that coffee grounds are actually bad for compost if you use too much

I was digging around on the EPA website last night and found out that coffee grounds are only good in small amounts because they can make the pile too acidic. Has anyone else run into this issue with their apartment bin?

A buddy of mine killed his whole worm bin with too many coffee grounds last year.
