Caught my mini compost bin smelling like rotten eggs for 2 days

I kept adding fruit scraps and coffee grounds to my countertop bin like usual, but after 48 hours it smelled like a swamp. Turns out I was piling everything too wet and dense without enough brown material like shredded paper or dry leaves. What tipped me off was seeing a slick layer of liquid at the bottom when I dumped it out. Anyone else learn the hard way that moisture balance is a bigger deal than people let on?
