The old guy at the flea market in Dayton who sold me a "Roman coin" for $3
Two summers back I was digging through a junk bin at a flea market outside Dayton when this old fella in a John Deere hat handed me a crusty green disk and said it was a Roman coin his granddad dug up in Italy during the war. I paid him $3 mostly because I liked his story, and later that night I could just barely make out the letters on it under a magnifier. It said Made in China on the edge, stamped right into the metal. I still keep it in my coin box next to the real finds, and honestly I like it more than some of the actual old stuff I've pulled. Any of you keep a fake or two around just for the story behind it?
