Switched from bleach to peroxide for cleaning my old Roman coins
Used to just dump all my flea market finds in a bleach bath. Quick results but the detail always looked washed out after a while. Found a 1798 large cent at a yard sale outside Denver last month. Tried hydrogen peroxide soak instead. Took 3 days but the patina stayed intact. Still got the gunk off. Anyone else ruin a good coin with harsh chemicals early on?

Quick results but the detail always looked washed out" - man, I feel that. I totally wrecked a nice 1864 Indian head penny with bleach back in the day, still stings when I think about it.
