A stranger at the flea market pointed out my light leaks, and I owe them one

I picked up an old Pentax Spotmatic at a flea market in Portland for $40 and kept getting these weird orange streaks on my rolls. I figured it was the film or maybe my developing, since I do my own at home with a Patterson tank. Anyway, this older guy at the camera swap meet last Saturday looked at one of my prints and said 'your back latch seal is shot, look at the hinge side.' I had never even thought to check the light seals, I was so focused on my technique with metering and focusing. I spent $12 on new foam strips, cut them to size with a hobby knife, and ran three test rolls through. The streaks are gone, and now I check the seals on every camera I buy before I even load a roll. Has anyone else had a fix this simple come from a random comment, or is it just me getting lucky?

The latch and hinge seals are two different spots, but yeah, that guy nailed it.
