TIL you can fix a light leak in an Olympus Trip 35 with a $3 sheet of craft foam instead of mailing it off
I had a light streak on every roll out of my Trip 35 for about 5 weeks and kept blaming my developing, then finally traced it to the door seal. I sent it to a shop in Denver first for a $95 CLA and the leak came right back, so I got a sheet of craft foam at a hobby store and cut my own seal in maybe 20 minutes. Two rolls since then have been clean. Has anyone found a seal material that holds up better than craft foam over a couple years?
Honestly I ran craft foam in mine for like 3 years before I sold the camera and it never leaked again, so I'm not sure the durability thing is as big a deal as people make it. The foam compresses over time but the door still shuts tight, and worst case you're out another 3 bucks and 20 minutes. I get wanting a forever fix, but a proper seal job costs more than the camera is worth half the time. Were the two rolls you shot in cold weather or indoors?
