Spent $22 on a cheap plastic light meter and it beat my phone every single time in the studio
Everyone keeps saying skip the meter and just use a phone app, but I grabbed a $22 Sekonic L-208 clone off eBay for a portrait shoot in my garage last month and it nailed the exposure on all 36 frames while my phone app was off by a full stop in the shadows. The phone is fine outdoors but once the light gets tricky the cheap plastic meter just reads it straight, no guessing. Am I the only one who thinks the phone app crowd is giving bad advice to people shooting indoors?
