Talked to an old school alarm guy, now I question my panel choices
Ran into a retired installer at a supply house in Columbus last Tuesday. He said he still carries a basic keypad panel in his van for resi jobs because customers trust what they can see and touch. That got me thinking about all the app-heavy setups I push now. A homeowner last month asked me why she needs WiFi for her doorbell sensor, and I had no good answer. Anyone else feel like we skip past the simple stuff too fast?

That line about customers trusting what they can see and touch hit home for me. My buddy in Dayton installed a whole smart setup for an older couple, and they ended up calling him every week because the app kept logging them out. He finally swapped it for a basic keypad and they were happy as clams. Sometimes the simple stuff really is the reliable stuff, you know?
