Subcontractor swore a 12V horn on a 24V panel was fine, I lost a Friday to it

Guy from the supply house told me using a 12V horn on a 24V Vista panel would just sound louder, and two zones tripped after I left the job in Tucson. Cost me four hours of drive time and a service call to swap it out. Anyone else had a vendor give you advice that backfired like that?

Heard the same line about speakers before, blew a driver in ten minutes flat.
