My hangar's switch to tablets has me reaching for paper again.
I saw a new mechanic stuck because his tablet died during a check. We used to have paper manuals that never failed like that. Now we spend time on tech issues instead of fixing aircraft. This push for digital feels like it slows real work down. Paper lets you find info fast without glitches. We need reliable tools, not extra problems.

My buddy's tablet died mid-check at O'Hare, grounded the plane.

Federal aviation rules require paper backups for all pre-flight checks. A tablet dying mid-check should not ground a plane on its own. Pilots and crew are trained to use paper manuals when tech fails. I have friends in aviation who say such issues usually just cause brief delays. There must be more to the story than just a dead tablet.

But have you ever seen how long it takes to switch to paper charts in a real rush?
