The potluck in Ames made me rethink everything I thought about reheating fries in the air fryer
I always told people leftover fries were a lost cause in the air fryer, they come out dry and sad every time. Then at a potluck in Ames last month, my friend Dana pulled cold fries from a Ziploc, hit them with a light spray of oil and 350 for 4 minutes, and they came out better than fresh. I tested it 3 times at home and she was right, the oil is the part I was skipping. So what else have I been doing wrong with leftovers, anyone got a trick that actually works?
Dana's trick works because cold fries lose surface moisture in the fridge, so the oil is basically replacing what got lost. Next time skip the ziploc and store them in a paper bag, they stay a little crisper and need less oil. Same idea works on leftover pizza, skillet with a splash of water and a lid.
