My uncle in Phoenix said AI generated photos of his dog looked "too perfect" and now I can't unsee it
He showed me 4 different apps and every single one smoothed out the weird ear flop his dog actually has, which is the exact thing that makes the dog cute. Are these tools getting better at real life or just making everything look the same?
Isn't the "too perfect" thing kind of the point though? Those apps aren't trying to copy your uncle's exact dog, they're giving you a clean generic version of a dog. Like when you order a burger and the menu pic looks nothing like what shows up. The ear flop is what makes that dog that dog, and honestly that's the stuff AI still sucks at unless you fight with it. It's not getting better at real life, it's getting better at looking smooth and same-y. Real photos have weird little mess-ups and that's what makes them feel real.
