Our reading club's moral debate spilled into personal attacks.

Actually, those messy arguments about book morals are where the real talk happens. Getting upset shows the story matters and connects to our lives. If we only chat about safe topics, we miss the point of sharing stories. Yeah, feelings can get hurt, but working through that clash makes the club stronger. Pretending we all agree just makes for a boring meeting.

Unpopular opinion: I thought hand signals were overkill until a pigeon landed on my cab

Birds seem to have a weird obsession with construction sites, like they're unpaid safety inspectors or something (you know, like they're bored or whatever). @hollycooper's seagull landing strip story is perfect proof of that chaos. When a bird blocks your view, you realize hand signals aren't overkill, they're basically your only lifeline. It's funny how nature throws these curveballs to teach us the hard way (usually at the worst possible time). Now I double-check everyone knows the signals, no matter how silly it might seem at first. That pigeon probably saved you from a worse accident, in a roundabout way.

Why I stopped telling my dad to just cheer up

Yeah, the small offers thing makes sense, but what do you do when even that feels like too much? Like you offer to pick up milk or sit with them, and it's still a no every time. That's where I get stuck, because then I feel useless. Do you just keep offering the small things quietly, or is there a point where you need a different plan?

My multimeter caught a comms glitch the computer said was fine

I've totally been there, trusting the screen until it bites me. @andrewb47 is spot on about basic checks. My own multimeter has saved me from my own stupidity more times than I care to admit.
