Misreading the dive map sent me over a drop-off I wasn't ready for
I was diving at a new spot in the Philippines and relied on a basic map from the dive shop. The map showed a gradual slope, but it was outdated. I ended up going over a sharp drop-off into deep water before I knew it. My computer started beeping from the rapid depth change. I had to ascend slowly, which messed up my dive plan. It was a rookie mistake that could have been worse. Always verify maps with local guides, folks. Has anyone else had issues with inaccurate dive maps?

Oof, that map tried to take you on a detour.

Check if maps avoid local trouble spots, @the_kelly.

See maps routing around construction zones daily. They flag accidents and reroute traffic. Even for rough areas, they suggest safer paths. My job gets me everywhere, and I rely on these apps. They're not perfect, but they try.
