DAE accidentally create satisfying content from a total mess?
I was attempting to film a crystal clear ice cube melting for a tutorial. My cat knocked over the setup, and the water mixed with food coloring in a way that looked like a miniature galaxy forming. Now I'm wondering if I should embrace chaos more in my projects, anyone have similar stories?

That bit about an unstable surface is key. I've found the trick is to build the chaos in upfront so it's not a total disaster. Like, plan your backdrop on heavily textured paper so the paint bleeds unpredictably, or set your camera on a slightly tilted tripod head for a dutch angle you can't fully control. You're still directing the mess, not just cleaning it up after the cat gets involved. Lets you claim it was artistic intention all along.

I watched a documentary on wabi-sabi pottery once, where the kiln's unpredictable cracks became the art's most valued feature. Your galaxy spill reminds me of that, how surrendering control to the material's nature often creates a more authentic result than any scripted tutorial. I've started deliberately introducing a random element, like an unstable surface or mixing media with different drying times, to force those happy accidents. It takes the pressure off perfect execution and makes the process itself more of a discovery.
