Rant: I thought cold bluing was fine for quick fixes, but a customer's corroded revolver showed me it never holds up.
Now I refuse to use anything but a proper hot tank for bluing jobs, because anything less just wastes the client's time and money.

Cold blue gets a bad rap but it works fine for touch ups on worn edges or screws. Not every job needs museum grade protection, especially on old shooters that won't see hard use. Calling it a total waste seems a bit extreme for a five dollar bottle of solution. Sometimes a quick fix is all a guy wants for his plinker.

My cold blue skills are so bad I once rusted a gun just by thinking about it.
