Warning: magnetic tape on the back of kids art is a trap

Last winter I taped my daughter's whole fall art stack to the fridge door with those roll magnets, thought it was genius. Three weeks later the paint on some pieces reacted weird and left sticky brown marks on the enamel, took me two hours with vinegar to clean. Anyone else had artwork ruin a fridge finish, or did I just pick cheap tape?
