My beach workday dream turned into a client nightmare

I set up my laptop on a Bali beach to finish a project. The sand messed up my keyboard and the sun glare made the screen unreadable. I missed errors in my work and had to redo everything overnight. Clients don't care about your sunset view if the job is late. Now I only work from proper desks when traveling, no exceptions!

Oh perfect, the classic "work from paradise" fantasy meets the gritty reality of sand in your keyboard. Nothing says professional like squinting at a screen while fighting off seagulls. At least you got a cool story to go with your all nighter.

Sand in the keyboard is avoidable with a bit of care, like using a cover or working from a shaded spot. Those seagulls aren't out to get you, they just want your snacks. The biggest hassle is actually the screen glare, not the birds. With some prep, working outside isn't so bad. But yeah, it always gives you something to complain about later.

Did you consider using a laptop shade or just gave up on outdoor work entirely?
