Blew $450 on a 'performance' chip for my 2011 F-150 that did nothing
Saw an ad online for a plug-in tuner chip that promised 40 extra horsepower and better fuel economy for my 5.0. The guy selling it swore it was the real deal, just plug into the OBD port. I got it, followed the instructions, and my truck ran exactly the same. No change in power, no change in mileage. I checked everything, even reset the computer. It was a complete scam. The company ghosted me when I asked for a refund. I feel like a total sucker for not doing more research first. Has anyone else gotten burned by one of these fake tuners?

What chip brand did you buy?

Why does the brand even matter? The store brand chips are just as good as the fancy ones and cost way less. You're mostly paying for the name and the advertising. I grab whatever's cheapest and they always taste fine.
