Changed my mind about cutting LVP with a knife
I always used a jigsaw for cutting planks around door frames, thought a utility knife was for amateurs. On a job last week in a tight Phoenix condo, my jigsaw battery died and I was in a rush. Grabbed my knife, scored the plank top and bottom, and snapped it clean in about 30 seconds. The cut was way cleaner than any jigsaw cut I've ever made, no chipping at all. Now I use the knife for all my straight cuts on LVP and save the saw for weird shapes. Anyone have a favorite brand of knife blade for this? Mine seem to dull fast.

Know that exact feeling of being stuck with a dead tool and just trying something dumb that ends up working. I fought using a knife for so long because it felt like a hack, but man, the snap cuts are just cleaner. I go through blades like crazy too, especially on the stuff with a thick wear layer. I've had decent luck with the heavy duty Stanley blades, they seem to last a bit longer before the snap gets ragged.

Oh man, @jadeg81, you're totally right about the snap cuts being cleaner. That ragged edge on a dull blade is the worst. When you say you go through blades like crazy, how many cuts are you usually getting from one before it starts to go bad? I swear sometimes it feels like just one tough sheet and the tip is already done for.
