I finally spent $40 on a changing bag for loading my film and it saved me from ruining three rolls in my bright apartment.

Has anyone found a cheaper or better way to load film without a darkroom?

A changing bag is a solid investment for sure. My best cheap trick was using a thick black trash bag inside a closet at night, with my arms already in the sleeves. It worked for years before I upgraded to a proper bag.

Oh, I feel that pain. I've had so many rolls fogged from a tiny sliver of light under a door. Did you try the blanket fort method? I used to crawl into a closet with a heavy quilt over my head, sweating and hoping for the best. It always felt like a gamble, and losing a roll of vacation shots that way is just heartbreaking. That bag sounds like money well spent for the peace of mind alone.

Ugh, that's the worst. It's like we all accept a little chaos as part of the process.
