Switched from silk to bamboo for my summer dresses and it actually worked

I spent three summers convinced silk was the only fabric that looked good for formal summer wear, but after melting in a $200 silk maxi at a July wedding in Austin I finally tried bamboo. The drape is different but it breathes way better and I didn't feel like I needed a shower after two hours of dancing. Has anyone else made a fabric switch that surprised them?

@Sandralee, 100% agree bamboo blends are a lifesaver for avoiding that sad wrinkled look lol.

Total opposite here. For years I thought bamboo was just for bedsheets and workout gear so I avoided it for anything nice. First time I wore a bamboo dress to a dinner party I showed up looking like a wrinkled mess because I forgot you can't just toss it in the dryer.

Maybe you've got a bamboo blend @sandralee, because pure bamboo should actually hold up fine on low heat.
