Tried recapping an old 1970s Marantz tuner and now I can pick up stations from 3 states over

Bet on that thing picking up everything now. Those old Marantz units are built like tanks and just need fresh caps to sing again. I bet you're pulling in stations loud and clear that you barely got static from before. How's the sound quality compared to before the recap?

Actually @tylerr29, the wildest thing isn't even the sensitivity boost. My Marantz 2230 pulls in this one weird AM station from like 500 miles away at night that I could barely crackle before. It's a college radio station in Nebraska that plays polka music of all things, and now it comes through clean as a whistle. The caps definitely helped with the noise floor dropping way down, but what nobody talks about is how the stereo separation got way tighter too. I used to have this slight muddiness between channels, especially on FM, and now the left and right feel totally locked in. So yeah, fresh caps are magic, but the selectivity improvement surprised me more than the volume jump.
