Overheard a master electrician say single-pull 90s are overrated and it made me rethink my whole rough-in method
I was at a supply house last week and heard this older guy telling an apprentice that 90s are just hiding spots for future wire damage, especially in commercial. He said he runs all his conduit with 45s and stub-ups, and after thinking on it, I realized he's right. I used to use 90s everywhere because that's how I learned, but now I see how they can pinch or stress wire on long pulls. Tested his way on a 200-foot run with four 90s replaced by 45s, pulled smooth as butter. Anyone else ditch the 90s and see a difference in pull tension?

Honestly, never thought about it that way but you totally changed my mind on 90s.

But you gotta be careful swapping 45s for 90s on everything, because that only works if your stub-ups are tall enough to keep the wire from scraping the box edge. I tried it on a short stub once and the wire rubbed way worse than any 90 would have done. Just make sure your bend radius still allows for a clean transition so you don't trade one problem for another.
