Just pulled up a zoning map of Edmonton and was shocked by something I found

I was messing around on the city's GIS site the other night, bored after dinner, and I zoomed in on a spot near 50th Street and 118th Avenue. Turns out there's this weird little pocket of land that's zoned for light industrial right next to a bunch of old single family homes, like a block away from each other. I swear I walked by that area a hundred times never noticing it. Has anyone else stumbled across a weird zoning mix like that in your own neighborhood?

Talk to the city planning department about it. I've dealt with weird zoning issues near my business before and they're usually pretty upfront about what grandfathered uses are still legal there. Might be worth checking if that light industrial lot is actually operating under an old permit or if it's just sitting vacant.

Man, that is wild. It's so easy to just walk past something a hundred times and never really see it, especially in older parts of the city. That kind of mix always feels a bit off, like when a new auto shop just pops up right next to someone's backyard fence. It really makes you wonder how those decisions got made back in the day.
